I realised I didn’t want to read recent summaries of poltergeist stories, and started seeking out more detailed and contemporary accounts from old books and newspapers. I discovered there were a lot more cases than I realised. This website is an archive of those gathered accounts.
It’s interesting to me that they share certain characteristics – and that those characteristics are evident in stories over hundreds of years and in countries across the globe. The reason for that is debateable. You can make your own mind up.
This is a work in progress – at present you can use the map to look for examples near you, or read cases from a selected location or decade. I intend to pull out the most famous and interesting cases and present some commentary, and to provide original illustrations.
