The extra viewer is a ghost.
A ghost is haunting the Leek family – a ghost with modern tastes. For the home it has chosen to haunt is a three-year-old council flat in Redburn-view, North Shields, Northumberland, without a trace of traditional spookiness in its three bright rooms, kitchen and bathroom.
It flits about the flat night and day, making odd noises and upsetting 40-year-old Mrs Margaret Leek, her husband George, and their 16-year-old daughter Vivian and baby David. It even watches television.
Mrs Leek said yesterday: “Once I was admiring a woman’s hat on an afternoon television show when it brushed across my face.” She added: “We cannot get a moment’s peace from this awful spook. IT has been month upon month of terror for us.”
Now the familyhas asked the local vicar, the Rev. Clement White, to scare the ghost away. “There is a set procedure in cases like this and I will follow it,” said Rev. White. Will the modern ghost be driven away by an ancient ceremony of the Church. If it isn’t, the Leek family will ask the council for another home.

Ghost watches tv.
A North Shields (Northumberland) family have called upon their local priest to exorcise a ghost which, they say, is haunting their modern four-room council flat. Mrs Margaret Leek, her husband, George, their 16 year old daughter Vivian and baby David have had their lives plagued by the ghost which flits about the flat by day as well as night, making odd noises. It even watches television.
Said Mrs Leek: “Once I was looking in at an afternoon TV show when the ghost brushed across my face. We have not been able to get a moment’s peace. Month after month the invisible thing has troubled us.”
Called in to scare the spirit away is the local vicar. If ancient exorcism procedure fails to alleviate their trouble the Leek family intend asking to be moved to a different flat.
