Boy’s terror in house of the vampire.
A six-year-old boy has fled his Birmingham home because he believes a ghostly woman and her little girl are haunting him. Terrified Adam Hemming has refused to set foot in the house, in Shard End, and is now living with his grandparents.
Three mediums claim the house is possessed by a poltergeist and a “house-bound vampire” and the city council is taking the problem seriously enough to have asked for a report from the mediums before deciding whether to rehouse Adam and his mother, Mrs June Hemming. Mrs Hemming now spends her days and evenings at her parents’ home to be with her son before returning to sleep at her lonely semi-detached council house in Cole Hall Lane.
She said: “Adam is terrified. I can’t make him stay with me when he’s so frightened, it would be cruel. I have tried to get him to come home in the past but he just screams and cries – it breaks my heart. I am simply at my wit’s end.”
A city council spokeswoman said yesterday that although the housing department sympathised with Mrs Hemming’s unusual problem, its hands were tied until it recieved official reports from the three mediums. “Apparently, June has a lot of psychic energy and that is supposed to be the cause of the problems,” she said. “The mediums have told us that there is an elderly lady and a baby as well as a poltergeist and a housebound vampire at the address.”
Mrs Hemming, aged 30, and Adam moved into the semi-detached house three years ago. Although Adam complained from the first night that he was seeing strangers in his bedroom, his mother put his fears down to imagination. “To be honest i can’t even get friends to stay in the house – they think it’s creepy. I always have to go to their homes for coffee,” she added. “One day I was in the kitchen and the knobs on the cooker just flew off for no reason. The only way as far as I can see of getting my son back is getting out of this house – there is evil here.”
Adam has been living with his grandparents Leslie, 63, and June, 59, at their home in nearby Buckland End for the last five months. His grandfather said: “I have been in that house and heard banging upstairs when there’s nobody there. After going to Adam’s room to see what was going on I found the bedroom in uproar with drawers hanging out and clothes all over the place. Just minutes before, that room had been spotlessly tidy.”

Mediums say ‘haunted’ house is now cleansed.
A six-year-old boy scared away from his Birmingham home by ghosts has refused to return to the house even though mediums claim to have cleansed it of unwelcome spirits. Adam Hemming fled the home in Shard End, which he shares with his mother, Mrs June Hemming, aged 30, after he claimed he saw the ghosts of two young children walking through his bedroom wall. Since then he has been staying with his grandparents.
One of the mediums, Mr David Adams, from Oldbury, said:”I actually saw the figure of a mother carrying a baby and when we first went in the house it was very cold and there was a feeling of depression. Then I went round the house and prayed in every room and asked for the ghost and her child to be taken to a better place. After a while the house got warmer and we were happy that the spirits had left the house.”
The city council is deciding whether to re-house the family.
