Mystery force drives family from their home.
A terrified Birmingham family have fled their home and moved in with neighbours because, they claim, a poltergeist began wrecking their possessions. They say a strange force disrupted the children’s clothes, tipped up the furniture and smashed cups on the kitchen floor.
Mr Dennis Griffiths, his wife Jean and their three children dare not sleep in the council flat in Shustoke Road, Shard End, and have asked to be moved, but housing officials are sceptical. The family say they have been aware of the strange force for about three years, but in recent weeks its activity has become more frequent and frightening. Each time the family puts clothes and records back in their place and tidy the furniture they return to find it disturbed.
A prayer said in the flat by a vicar has failed to put an end to the trouble and the family say they are desperate to find someone who can do something to stop the disruption. Family friend David Hamilton, who was staying at the flat during the recent disturbance, said: “It has got really frightening. There is obviously something there.”
A spokesman for Birmingham Housing Department said: “The first we heard of the poltergeist was last week, and we are surprised that we had not been told before. We would like them to keep us informed about any further developments.”
