And it’s not the stylists that make the hairs stand on end!

Customers at a local hair salon may find that it is not the hairdresser that makes their hair stand on end. The spectacle of moving objects, ghostly apparitions and blood-curdling banging noises at Klickers in Regent Street would be more than enough for that. The hub of paranormal activity seems to come from the cellar from which strange banging noises were heard even before the premises became a hairdressers. Now a staff room, it was a long time before anyone would dare venture down there.

A member of staff said: “The banging noises from the cellar were so loud sometimes that you could hear it above the driers and the music on the stereo we have in the salon. The stereo would keep turning itself off. We found that the reason for this was that the stereo had been unplugged without anyone going near it. Things also used to move around in front of you, like spinning ashtrays. Sometimes we would also hear our names being called without anybody there.”

On one notable occasion a plumber came to do some work and brought his wife along with him. While he popped out of the salon to get some tools, his wife found herself talking to a man she believed to be her husband while he was still outside. The mystery of that one along with all the other strange happenings has never been solved, but suffice it to say the couple never returned.

After years of strange happenings, things came to a head and a medium was called in. After various bits of hocus pocus involving holy water and silver crosses, the activity has calmed down a bit, but not before the strange entity in the cellar had protested about the intervention, by throwing plants all over the floor the following day!
