Some very remarkable manifestations that agree in many points with the curious happenings in a house in Court street, Enniscorthy, some little time ago, are causing considerable comment in one of the Dublin residential districts. The writer of these notes visited th ehouse and persons immediately concerned, with the following results: –
Mrs [ ?] had lived in the house for eighteen months. Before Christmas on a couple of occasions the furniture in the kitchen was all disturbed and changed about during the night. It was thought someone of the family was playing a joke, and little notice was taken of it. A few nights after the same thing began to happen with alarming frequency, and th elights would go out mysteriously. Knockings were heard in different parts of the house.
A neighbour, a hard-headed Scotchman, was called in by the woman one afternoon, and he saw the furniture rise a few inches from the floor and move around the room by the aid of some unseen agency. The priest was acquainted of all the facts, and said prayers in the house, and blessed it on two occasions. He also advised all the members of the family to go to their religious duties, which advice they obeyed.
Still the furniture and clothes on the hall stand would move mysteriously. The family, a widow with grown-up sons and daughters, left the house last week. The husband has been dead many years. No reason can be given for the strange occurrence.
