Ballymakea, County Clare (1946)

Case of a cheeky poltergeist.

Throws butter around.

A farmhouse in the Ballymakea district of Mullagh, County Clare, is having poltergeist trouble. If the poltergeist doesn’t go, a full clerical investigation is to be made.

Meanwhile, this sort of thing has been happening for some weeks: Butter is thrown in the face of the farmer’s wife, frightening the children; Windows have been smashed; Chairs have been broken; China is moved from the dresser; Fingerprints have appeared on the bread; Dishes on the oven are covered with ash; Lamps are put out; Bread pops into pails of water; Butter is thrown on the fire; and the bedclothes are stripped back.
