Mum moves out of Brid flat haunted by ghost who plays with toys.
Child ghost scares off young family.
By Lisa Hodson.
A terrified mum has been driven out of her own home by an unwelcome ‘ghostly’ guest. Jane Malpass lived on Albion Terrace with her baby daughter until the haunting problem became too much for her to handle. The 25-year-old has now packed up and moved out after calling well-known ghostbusting vicar The Rev Tom Willis to the rescue. “I felt there was somebody else in the room with me. At first I thought I was imagining things but then things started moving,” said Miss Malpass. “I was terrified and I am still on edge even now. My little girl’s toys would be moved and it was as though somebody was playing with them. I just knew I had to get out of there for both mine and my daughter’s sake. “
Mr Willis, of St John’s Church, in Sewerby, and Holy Trinity, in Bridlington, confirmed he was called by Miss Malpass to bless her home and hopefully solve her problem. And although Miss Malpass called in Mr Willis to try and solve her problem, she had already set her mind to moving from the haunted flat. However, she believes she may have since learned some history about the building and understands a young couple lived there once with a little girl. “The couple did not get on, it seems, and the father had come home from work one day to find the mother sat on the bed cradling the girl, who had died from a virus or something. Apparently the father went mad and in a rage murdered his wife. I told Mr Willis that I thought it could have been a child, particularly as it seemed to play with my little girl’s toys,” she added.
Happily, since moving to a new flat off Flamborough Road Miss Malpass has had no more bother from unwelcome guests.

Pointless Exorcise.
Terrified mother Jane Malpass has been driven out of her home by a ghost. Jane, 25, said she could no longer live at her flat in Albion Street, Bridlington – despite the efforts of a Church of England exorcist. Jane called in ghostbuster the Rev Tom Willis to rid the flat of the unwanted spirit which had mysteriously moved her daughter’s toys. The vicar of St John’s Church, Sewerby, and Bridlington’s Trinity Church arrived at the flat to bless the ghost and drive it out. But by that time, Jane had suffered too much and was ready to leave. She said: “From the time I moved into the flat I felt there was someone else in the room. I thought I was imagining things until I saw my little girl’s toys move about as though someone was playing with them. It was terrifying. I knew I had to get out of there for both our sakes.”
Jane said she had researched the history of the house and believes she had identified the ghost. She said a couple had previously lived at the flat with a child. “The father came home one day to find the mother cradling the child which had died. Apparently, the father went mad and murdered his wife. I believe the ghost is the dead child.” Jane has moved to a new home in Flamborough Road.
