A Haunted House.

The Hanford Journal says that a small house on the Whitaker and Ray ranch, one mile southeast of Kingston, is supposed to be haunted. At night unearthly noises are heard, and supernatural things take place. The Journal says the spirit of a murdered Frenchman haunts the house. A party of Hanfordites visited the house a few nights ago, and returned home fully convinced that the place is really haunted. They carried on a conversation with the “spook” by rappings. The spook claimed that he was the spirit of a man murdered by two Germans thirty-seven years ago, and that $3100 was buried within a half mile of the house. The rappings apparently come from the ground. The house is uninhabited save by the alleged ghost.
