Ghost Story – that arrived on the heels of the Saxon sergeant -major (this page yesterday) came from Colombo, Ceylon. Inmates of a house in Nugegoday, Colombo suburb, have fled, shut the place up, because, since the father of the family died a few months ago:
Showers of supernatural stones have fallen on the roof, shot through windows; Cries and wails have come from the garden, zinc sheeting has been used as a gong by unseen hands; Books, furniture, china have been thrown about, a basket of eggs lifted from a table and smashed, all without human agency.
Besides all this, comparatively normal poltergeist “haunting,” a 13-year-old boy living in the house was singled out for special attention. The boy was pursued on several occasions by a large black dog, which vanished when he tried to strike it.
It is also claimed that a man who tried to climb a coconut tree in the garden was kept at the top by an invisible force which held him immovable for some time.
