Enter Spirits, Exit Family.
The Titus family took one look at the furniture moving about by itself in their new council flat shortly after midnight – and fled. Mr and Mrs John Titus, Norman, aged 14, Brian, 13, June, 10, and Jeffrey, nine, didn’t even stop to switch off the lights at No. 1, Furley House, Peckham Park-road, Peckham, London. They just piled into the family car and drove straight to the local police station. There, Mr Titus told the station officer: “We’ve been scared away from our house by spirits.” He went on to tell about “mysterious knockings” and the moving furniture.
A policeman said last night, “He swore he would never live in the flat again, and said he would insist that London County Council find him another one.” Then the family went off again – to a friend’s home in Yeoman’s Court, Coopers-road, New Cross. Back at Furley House last night all was calm and quiet. Said the Titus family’s neighbour, 80-year-old Mrs Sarah Harris: “The meat for my dinner is in their refridgerator. That’s the only inconvenience these ‘ghosts’ have caused me.”

Family to go back to ‘ghost’ flat.
A couple and two of their children last night went back to their flat which they fled on Monday – they told the police that spirits had driven them out – after an exorcism by a medium.
A Spiritualist minister went through the flat at Furley House, Peckhampark Road, Peckham, S.E., with a blue light trying to contact the “poltergeist” which Mr and Mrs Harold Titus blamed for noises and smashed articles.
