Mrs W’s council flat is haunted by a cheeky ghost.

By Mary Malone.

Priests have tried twice to exorcise a poltergeist from Mrs Patricia Wright’s council flat – and failed. Mrs Wright, 32, spoke yesterday of the mischievous spirit, which she says arrived a year ago and nearly scared her into moving house. “The furniture seemed to come to life. Books, the coffee table and ornaments rose in the air and hovered in space. At first I thought I was seeing things. But neighbours who dropped in saw it happening, too. So did my husband. Now almost daily jars of face cream float across the room, my son’s marbles fly through the air like bullets, and plastic flowers rise out of their vases and collapse. Milk bottles left in the passage soar into the living room and smash against the walls.”

Mrs Wright, of Westcroft-way, Cricklewood, London, said the spirit used to frighten her, but now she has become quite used to him. “He seems to be mischievous rather than harmful,” she said.

A spokesman at St. Agnes’s Catholic Church, Cricklewood, said: “Prayers were said and holy water was sprinkled in Mrs Wright’s flat to exorcise the spirit on two separate occasions early last year. We advised her and neighbours to pray that peace would be restored to the house.”

Now Mrs Wright has decided to ask a spiritualist circle for help. “Maybe they can contact the spirit and find out what it wants from me,” she said.
