Another mysterious affair at present engaging the attention of the police is in the Loudoun Hill. For about a month past the family have been annoyed by violent knocking at the doors and windows during all hours of the night; and the guidwife is personally addressed by the unseen visitant calling upon her “to prepare for the journey,” “the ship is about to sail,” “her berth is secured, make haste and come,” &c. The police of the district have been applied to and are at present engaged nightly on the spot, which seems not to deter the ghostly being, who queries the guidwife why so many clear buttons are moving about? Up to the present time no satisfactory solution has been arrived at, but practical jokes are most likely to be at the bottom of it. – Ayr Observer.
