Norroy-le-Veneur, Grand Est, France (1929)

 Ghosts milk cows.

Terror-stricken villages.

The village of Norroy-le-Veneur, between Nancy and Metz, is in a state of terror (says a Central News Paris telegram). Ghosts are abroad which milk cows during the night, lock farmhouse doors, and barricade windows. The chief sufferer is a farmer, whose house is now shunned by everyone, and children if they have to pass it run at full speed.

When this farmer goes to milk his cows in the morning he finds them dry, but there are signs that they have been milked during the night. When he and his family return from the fields at night they find the doors and windows barricaded, and when they are in the house they are disturbed by all sorts of noises. Guns seem to go off, there are cries of strange animals, and sounds of running feet.

The police have been investigating the mystery, but without success.
