 Haunted House Mystery.

Locked Doors Which Opened Themselves.

(“Leicester Mail” Correspondent.)

Lahore (received To-day).

Ghosts are usually associated with old manors or dilapidated houses; it is rare that they visit newly-constructed dwellings. Such a problem, however, has arisen in Lahore, where great excitement has been caused by ghosts and supernatural apparitions which have made their appearance in a newly-constructed house on Lodge Road, Lahore, occupied by a retired railway official.

Not only at night have the ghosts spread terror among the natives in the vicinity, but the apparitions are stated to have been seen in broad daylight. In order to elucidate the mystery several leading citizens, municipal commissioners, and others have investigated the premises, but the mystery remains unsolved.

Efforts were made to capture the ghost and all doors and windows of the house were locked an bolted in the presence of several witnesses. To everybody’s astonishment the doors and windows opened apparently of their own accord in spite of the precautions.

A fellow of the Punjab University, Raj Bahadur Durgadas, investigated the premises, but when he arrived he was met with a mysterious shower of stones, although there was nobody in the house nor in the neighbouring area which was carefully guarded. Several lawyers who examined the house are convinced that it is haunted by ghosts.
