Weird Happenings on a Farm
“Ghost” rappings on bedroom door.
Cessation after request was granted.
Strange and uncanny “supernatural” happenings are said to be taking place on a large and isolated farm in the Mas du Mourre district of France, between Avignon and Nimes. The farm, known as the “Farm of l’Estagnon,” is occupied by three families, who work for a M. Tallavignes. Four years ago, Mme. Elvire Lopez, a Spanish woman, died on the farm, and soon afterwards her husband gave up his job and left. Their places were taken by the Penado family.
The other night, according to M. Penado, his 15-year-old daughter, Therese, was in her bedroom – lit by an oil lamp – when the door suddenly opened. No one entered, but three loud raps were heard on the panel, and a woman’s voice said, “Therese, it is Elvire who speaks to you. You are a good girl, and I, who died here, ask you to have a Mass said to my memory in the Chapel of Notre Dame de Lourdes in the church at Roche-fort.”
The girl screamed for her father, who came running into the room with his son. As they crossed the threshold, says M. Penardo, the knocks were again heard, followed by a repetition of the strange request. Subsequently M. Penardo went to Roche-fort, which is only a few miles away, and, in the absence of the curate, explained what had happened to his maid. The latter promised to tell the priest, the Abbe Hebrard, when he returned, and this she did the following day. The abbe immediately arranged to say the Mass, and did so, in the presence of a large congregation.
Now it is reported, the Penardo family have received another visit from “Mme. Lopez.” The father, his son, and the girl were in the girl’s room, it is said, when the door opened, and there were three knocks. Then the same voice declared, “I thank you, my friends. May you live in eternal happiness.” Silence followed, and nothing more has since been heard.

Is this just good publicity for the catholic church? Those are some pretty coherent sentences.
