Blackwood, South Wales (1907)

 A Haunted House.

Strange sounds in a Blackwood Dwelling.

For some time past singular sounds have been heard in a house adjoining High-street, Blackwood, which is tenanted by Mr. and Mrs. Young and their child. On Saturday the sounds were distinctly heard, and late on Sunday night were so emphatic that Mr. Young sought the presence and advice of a friend to endeavour to solve the mystery.

The occupants appeared to be thoroughly firghtened, and though several visitors were present on Sunday and Monday no explanation could be forthcoming. On Tuesday night two investigators went to the house about eleven and remained until after midnight, but for the first time for a considerable period there were no distinct sounds.

The belief held by many that the house is haunted has occasioned considerable speculation in the village.
