‘Haunted house’ ghost spooks terrified pair.
A terrified couple claim they are being haunted out of their new home by a noisy spirit. Glenn Pendleton says the ghostly goings on began only hours after he and fiancee Denise Reynolds moved in. During a night of terror the spectre: Gave Denise a painful electric shock; Banged doors; Rang the doorbell; Padded around with heavy footsteps; Played music. Mr Pendleton, 34, said: “We were scared stiff. I’ve never had anything like this happen to me before… it was terrifying.”
The haunted began at 1 am after the couple moved into the house in Dallington Road, Dallington. Mr Pendleton, a cook at the Old Red Lion, Kislingbury, said: “We decided to rent the house after Denise got a job in the area.” They moved their furniture in on Sunday and went to bed feeling “very tired” only to be worken up by the door bell chiming and heavy footsteps padding around outside their bedroom door. Mr Pendleton said: “The footsteps went up and down the stairs but when we went to look there was nobody there. The doorbell also started chiming so we went to have a look – but there was nobody on the end of the doorbell when the chimes rang inside the house.
“We also heard child-like music. When we opened our bedroom door to have a look it stopped. But the most frightening thing was Denise getting an electric shock. She suddenly jumped and swore blind that something had touched her and given her a shock. It was really frightening. I don’t know if we can stay here if this goes on. I’ll have to ask the agents we rented the house from if they can get us some thing else.”
Mr Pendleton said when he viewed the property he did not notice anything unusual. “It’s not a very old building and it seemed perfectly all right – nothing odd about it at all. But we’re terrified to stay in it now. I can only think someone has died in it under nasty circumstances and they’re come back to haunt the place.”
A spokesman for th ehouse agents Beattie Son and Leslie, in York Road, Northampton, said: “I know nothing about ghosts or ghouls and things that go bump in the night in the house – we’ve only just taken on the management of it, it’s the first time we’ve let it.”
