Didcot, Oxfordshire (1984)

Haunted events at the pet shop.

Anxious pet shop owner Ira Wright has got something fishy going on in her store. The ghoulish goings-on led Mrs Wright to call in her local vicar in a bid to shut up shop on the spook. The catalogue of creepy capers which have hit the store include: Fish tanks being drained; ten pound blocks of pet food being shifted across the floor; dog bowls being moved around.

Mrs Wright and husband Denis called in the police and even a spiritualist in the hope of solving the mystery which has plagued the Didcot store for around 12 months. They are now hoping that Rev Ian Randall’s blessing of the store will get rid of the ghost once and for all.

Mrs Wright, aged 56, said: “I just hope it will stop. I don’t believe in spirits but now I am open minded.” The couple have made their eerie discoveries on arriving for work at the Pet Fare store in Broadway, Didcot. They live in Glebe Road, Didcot, and say that the spirit strikes every three or four weeks. Mrs Wright has not ruled out the possibility of someone breaking into the store, but cannot see any reason why they should want to drain water from fish tanks and shift stock around. So the couple are now hoping Mr Randall’s blessing will end the creepy saga.
