Jurong Island, Singapore (1960)

This ghost scares away girl from her home.

Jurong, Fri.

Wong Poh Choo, a pretty country girl, has left her father’s house in Jurong and sought refuge in a relative’s house nine miles away in Boon Teck Road – all because of a vicious poltergeist. The poltergeist had been pelting stones at her for several days. Her father, farmer Wong Teck Chye, previously dismissed her complaints as childish nonsense. He later called a meeting of the village elders at his house when his wife and other elderly village women thought otherwise.

While Poh Choo was telling the elders about the poltergeist, a shower of stones fell at her feet. Some were as big as an egg. The council moved a few feet away, only to be greeted by another shower of stones. Then a fire broke out on the roof. After putting it out, the elders decided then and there that Poh Choo should leave and stay with a relative far away.
