Eerie experiences – but is Dawn’s flat haunted?

Things that go bump in the night are putting the shivers up a young Lynn couple, who reckon their new home is haunted! Dawn Powley (20) and boyfriend John (21) moved into their rented flat in Goodwins Road a month ago. But they now believe they have an unwelcome guest, who is turning out to be a bit of a creepy guy (or girl).

First thing they noticed was an unusual smell, and a peculiar feeling every time they climbed the stairs. Then they realised electrical switches, which had been switched off, were turned on again by an unseen hand. They have also heard objects dropping to the floor, when there has been no-one near.

The scariest moment came when John, who is unemployed, woke up screaming at 2am – convinced he could see a ghostly figure sitting on the end of the bed. “It was an outline of a person, he thinks it was a little girl,” said Dawn, who is an administrative assistant at the Lynn News. She has got the shakes from her experiences.

Other tenants in the house have also admitted to inexplicable occurrences which sometimes send a shiver up their spines, but seen to have accepted their unusual lodger. “It can’t be an evil spirit because it’s done nothing to hurt us,” said Dawn, who does not know if the building has an eerie history. “We’re just wondering what will happen on Hallowe’en.”
