Llangollen, Denbighshire (1869)

 A Ghost.

On Tuesday evening a very large crowd congregated opposite the house of Mr Bligh, Church-street. Sounds were heard proceeding from various parts of the house. Sometiems from the money box, and frequently from the chimney. Search was made, and scores of people went about to look for the ghost. Beds were torn open; but in vain. The ghost spoke English and Welsh, but bore no appearance. In the end it was found out by Mrs Bligh, who returned from Wrexham during the disturbance, that a young girl (the maid-servant) was at the bottom of it, as she possessed great ventriloquial tact. Thus perished the ghost.
