Lythmore, Caithness (1839)

We have been informed that certain diableries in the ghost way have lately been carried on at Lythmore, in the parish of Thurso. The old trick of throwing peats and turf into one of the houses has been resorted to. A mysterious old woman in a brown cloak, has, it is said, been the agent of the “foul fiend” in this matter. Why does not the aged female perform some original feat when she  is about it? We think a flight in the air on a broom stick might be had recourse to by way of a change.
