Ghostbuster cleric’s warning.
By Joe Hartley.
After performing an exorcism at a Weston Estate home, a ghostbusting cleric has warned of the dangers of the occult. And he has offered to bless the terraced home of Dorothy and David Moore in Lord Street, where they and their four children have been haunted for three years.
Pastor Henry Drabble of Macclesfield’s Calvary Church says people should be aware that meddling with the supernatural and forces unknown can stir up all sorts of trouble. He’s slated Ouija boards, children’s fantasy games like Dungeons and Dragons and books like the House of Hell as a “subtle introduction to the occult.” In th epast week he has been called on to exorcise the home of a woman living on the Weston Estate. The occupant had been disturbed by a series of strange experiences.
Pastor Drabble has been in town nine years and has been called on several times to banish unexplained evil presences. Now he’s offering to bless the home of Dorothy and David Moore in Lord Street. The Moores and their four children have been haunted since they moved into their terraced cottage three years ago and began refurbishments.
David Moore (37), an aerial contractor, feels uneasy – as if being watched every time he goes into the cellar. Dorothy (36), an ICI cleerk has spotted the spectre of a little girl playing on the landing, and someone or something shaking their bed at night. Son David claims to have been held down to his bed by a presence. Their other son Andrew is convinced he saw a man in a top hat and tails standing in his bedroom. “It scared me to death,” said Andrew (17). “I didn’t have any curtains up at the time so there were no shadows.”
Sixteen-year-old Paul Moore heard banging on the stairs and felt the house turn cold. Their dog’s hackles would rise and he would sit, howling, by the back wall.
Says Pastor Drabble: “I know some people think Spiritualism is a bit of a joke. But there’s a natural world where I can see you and you can see me. And there’s a spiritual world in which some people report they have seen ghosts. I don’t ridicule it. It’s a disturbing fact.”
Rev. John Tsipouras, vicar at Hurdsfield Holy Trinity also cautions about dabbling in things we don’t understand. “People start out then find they are getting into deep water,” he said. And their actions can have a knock-on effect on others. In such cases, he explained, a priest will go into a home and pray to denounce the evil presence.

Ghost buster offers his aid.
Ghost-busting cleric Pastor Henry Drabble who’s warned of the dangers of dabbling in the occult is offering to help anyone who’s encountered spooky situations. “That way at least we could find out how widespread the problem is,” said Pastor Drabble. “There are genuine cases where people have been troubled.”
Meanwhile, the Moore family of No. 4, Lord Street who’ve been bugged by ghostly goings-on want to hear from anyone who’s lived at their address, and can help solve the mystery of things that go bump in the night. Pastor Drabble can be contacted at the Calvary Church, Macclesfield.
