The Supernatural!
A correspondent, living in the neighbourhood of Milwich, has forwarded the following: –
The inhabitants of this district, about a mile from Milwich, have been greatly surprised during the last and previous three or four weeks at something that has appeared to partake of the supernatural. A certain cottage, inhabited by an old woman and her son, has been assailed with large stones, a few being thrown at intervals during each day. Who threw the stones or where they came from no one has been able to discover.
Many people have witnessed it, and some have been struck with the stones. Watch has been placed upon the house and the neighbouring fields to see if anyone was doing it for mischief, but no one has been seen or found. Mr Bourne, of Hilderstone Hall, has endeavoured to investigate the matter, but without success. The stone-throwing ceased last Thursday as suddenly and mysteriously as it began. The oldest inhabitants assert that they have seen, at various times, something of a ghostly character near the house. This occurrence has frightened the neighbouring people, and they cannot pass the house without fear of being struck by a stone.
