The garage ghost that’s driving staff crazy.

By Andy Stanistreet.

Garage staff are at their wits’ end trying to trace the cause of ghostly goings-on. Workers at Randles in Newcastle fear a poltergeist may be playing tricks on them as they burn the midnight oil catching up on work. They claim the mystery ghost: –

Sets phones ringing; Makes pictures jump off walls; Opens locked doors and is heard walking around the building; Throws paperwork into bins; Re-arranges desks which have been tidied up by staff.

Garage financial controller David Prince said: “On one occasion I came in early in the morning to catch up on some paperwork and every phone in the building started to ring. I just locked the doors again and went home, it was really eerie.”

And parts supervisor Cliff Knowell said: “Last Saturday afternoon I was working alone and I heard footsteps in the rooms above me which I knew were empty. I do not particularly believe in ghosts but something odd is definitely going on.”

General manager Phil Wade said strange events had occurred at the garage off The Higherland since it opened in 1989. “On one occasion during a meeting in my room a picture literally jumped off the wall. We have had people try and follow the footsteps but they have always found the place deserted.”
