Pilton, Somerset (1973)

 Pilton’s Ghostly Story.

Ghostly footsteps in the early hours of the morning are disturbing a Pilton woman in her 300-year-old cottage. Mrs Hilda Cousins and her husband moved into ‘Tumbledown,’ Mount Pleasnat, 12 months ago and since then she has been awakened by footsteps between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m.

Recently the ghost escalated his haunting by sweeping articles off a shelf which made a dreadful clatter.

Mr Cousins said he had heard the footsteps but thought they were the assorted creaks normally associated with old houses. The latest incident led him to believe that there might be a ghost and local people thought it could be that of a farm worker who was killed in a tractor accident.
