Four police try to catch noisy ghost.
London, Sat.
Four members of the French police force are trying to catch a poltergeist which is disturbing farmers in the war-damaged village of Solesmes, near Lille. A poltergeist is a “spirit which makes its presence known by noise.”
Farmer Pierre Dubois reported to the police that he, his wife, and five children had not slept for many night because of the activities of the poltergeist. As soon as they went to bed, he said, shutters flew open, windows crashed in, and china ornaments flew off the dresser and mantelpieces.
One policeman stayed in the farmhouse for three nights. The disturbances continued, but he was unable to locate the “spirit.” Four local policemen are now taking it in turns to stay in the house at night in an attempt to trap the poltergeist.
