Tiree, Argyll and Bute (1928)

Ghost Story from a Small Village.

The island of Tiree, off the Argyle coast, is intrigued by strange events in a house in the small village of Scarinish, tenanted by John McDonald, a ship’s carpenter. The occupants of the place have been awakened from sleep by weird noises made as if by unseen persons moving heavy furniture to new positions. Small articles have been shifted during the night, pictures torn from the wall, and flower pots found on the floor. A wooden chest of unknown origin, brought from abroad, was thought to have some connection with the weird happenings, but its transfer to another village made no change. A young woman member of the family is said to be mediumistic.
