 Ghosts in Ootacamund.

Ootacamund has had a crop of singular phenomena, some of more recent occurrence than others. Some time since, in a house occupied by a family, the dining table was found tilted one morning, and resting on the edge of the slab. All the crockery left on it overnight, consisting of dishes and plates, and cups and saucers, was found on the floor, but quite uninjured.

On the evening of the day on which this discovery was made, the dining-room was securely bolted and locked, but on the following morning the table was found tilted again just as it has been the previous night, with all the crockery on the floor, uninjured likewise. The table was a large round one. It has four legs which were fastened to a ring of wood below, was perfectly firm, and could not be easily upset.

Recently, in a house also occupied by a family the cheese, when removed from the table, was placed in an adjoining room on a dressing-table, covered with a glass cover, and a napkin near it. The next morning, the cover was found to have been removed and placed near the cheese stand the napkin smoothened and spread on the table, the cheese remaining untouched.

On the following morning the toilet glass was found on the floor, the cover of the toilet table spread out near it, and the comb brush &c., placed on the cover. This house has the reputation of being haunted.
