Aurillac, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France (1926)

Scared by “Ghost”

Nightly showers of stones on widow’s house.

Paris, Saturday.

A supposed “ghost” that throws stones has terrorised the village of Roux, near Aurillac. Every night for weeks past the home of a widow named Delmas has been bombarded with large stones, although gendarmes and villagers have maintained a strict watch, and there is no shelter from which a practical joker could launch the missiles.

The stones are thrown with great force and precision. Every window in the building has been broken, and sometimes doors receive a ten minutes bombardment.

The villagers say that an evil spirit is at work. – B.U.P.
