… A former supervisor with insurance company AXA Equity & Law, he left Coventry for mid-Wales in the late 1980s with the intention of finding somewhere peaceful to sharpen his writing skills. He settled on an old house in Llandrindod Wells, but from the start found himself haunted by some of its previous occupants.
On the day he moved in, a phantom shelf crashed to the floor in the kitchen and he was accompanied upstairs by the sound of chesty breathing. And the spooky experiences just seemed to get worse. Lights switched themselves on and off, doors slammed and curtains were swished by an unseen hand. One night he lay in bed watching the ceiling light swaying as furniture was thrown around in the empty room upstairs.
On another he was watching TV when a woman in pre-war clothes walked through the wall into the room and out through the far wall. Thoroughly unnerved, he had an exorcism performed in the house, but when the incidents continued he cut his losses, sold up and came back to Coventry.
