A Ghost Story.
A real ghost story comes from near Riverchapel. A resident avers that he is nightly troubled with a ghost which is of the unseen, but outlandishly noisy description, its heavy footfalls resounding through the house with a resonance that would awaken the dead. A favourite entrance of this up-to-date phenomenon is by the chimney, which, of course, by necessity, he kept open, and as it is apparent that owing to its being invisible it can claim an advantage, it is not easy to understand how a large dog obtained from a neighbour on Tuesday night for the purpose of ridding his home of the unwelcome intruder can be of any value. The efficiency of the cure will be watched with interest.
